Summer Sales in Paris for an unmissable shopping spree

In Paris, the Summer Sales begin on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 at 8:00 am and end on Tuesday, August 8th. About 79% of French people say they will participate in the sales, so you will certainly be in the majority when you come to Paris to find bargains or buy items that would not normally tempt you because of the price. Department stores such as Printemps or Galeries Lafayettes, prestigious designer shops or major brand outlets offer amazing deals. You are at the heart of the capital of shopping and fashion, so whatever your style you’ll have a wonderful cut-price shopping spree.

If you check out the shops early in the sales there will be a greater range of choice, but remember that prices tend to be reduced further as the sales period continues. If you do go early, remember that it will be busy, especially during the first week and on the first weekend. The Boulevard Haussmann, Rue de Rivoli and the Forum des Halles will be crowded, so why not try some relatively quiet places, such as the Bercy Village shopping centre in the 12th arrondissement or the Italy 2 mall in the 13th?

Paris Plages

In 2017, the summer fun of Paris Plages takes place from July 8th to September 3rd, offering the opportunity to enjoy a seaside-style holiday break right in the heart of the capital. Tons of fine sand are shipped into three main locations to turn them into temporary beaches; the square of the Hôtel de Ville (4th), the Georges Pompidou Expressway (1st and 4th), and the Bassin de la Villette (19th). In addition, the Elisabeth and Louis Lumière sports centres set up their own beaches in the 14th and 20th arrondissements.

The Bassin de la Villette offers a wealth of activities, particularly on the water. Nautical fun is available for everyone, as there are boats of all kinds, including pedalos and kayaks. There will also be a boules area with eight alleys, table football, Qi Gong and Tai Chi classes and various dance lessons. Adults who prefer lazing in a deckchair on the sand won’t have to worry about the kids, as they’ll have merry-go-rounds, zip lines, a toy library and more to keep them happy.

The great novelty of Paris Plages 2017 is the opening of three free pools in the Bassin de la Villette: a 40 cm deep play pool for the little ones, a small intermediate pool and a large 2 metre deep one for swimmers. These are located in the Ourcq Canal, where the quality of the water is guaranteed.
