Hotel Royal Cardinal is ideally located for fun family outings in Paris, and from theme parks to museums and zoos, the capital really does have it all. We’ve chosen a few of our favourite kid friendly attractions, and we’ll be happy to help with directions to any that inspire you.
Unique attractions for children
No visit to Paris with children is complete without taking in one of our fantastic theme parks and Disneyland Paris is surely the most famous. Take the tots to meet their favourite characters while older brothers and sisters try the amazing rides. With over 50 attractions and 2 fabulous parks, it’s the perfect family treat.
Parc Asterix is a truly zany world and you can reach it by daily shuttle from outside the Grand Palais. See the changing streets of Paris from the Middle Ages to the 18th century as you take on Vikings and Romans with the world’s most popular Gaul.
Exclusive tours at Grévin Paris allow kids to take a peek behind the scenes of the globally acclaimed waxworks museum. Tours are available at certain times of the year, but you can take the children along to see iconic figures like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga or Gandhi at any time.
Visit a museum that will inspire your child
Museums are a great choice for family outings in Paris, and the city has some of the best in the world. Science fans will love Palais de la découverte where rooms such as the Planetarium and the Acoustics room have lots of interactive features.
Separate sections for the 2 to 7 age group and for 5 to 12 year olds make Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie an excellent choice and kids can learn how the water fountain works or how to build a house in a range of terrific exhibits.
Perhaps you have a budding Picasso in the family. Musée en Herbe has been designed for families who want to enjoy art and culture together and offers workshops for children under 12. Take them along to collage or stencil making classes to nurture their creative side, and enjoy a rewarding and fun filled outing.
Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle is one of the city’s most popular choices and this impressive glass roofed space boasts a host of spectacular permanent exhibitions. Children aged 6 to 12 will adore exhibits created especially for their age group in the Galeries des Enfants.
Out and about in parks and zoos
All children love the zoo, and there are several to choose from in Paris. Parc Zoologique de Paris takes an innovative approach that allows visitors to travel the world to see animals in unique habitats from the European pine forests to exotic locations like Madagascar or French Guyana.
Jardin d'acclimatation is as popular today as when it opened in 1860. This delightful park and zoo is home to tame deer as well as monkeys, bears and tigers, and there is also a small train that tots will adore.
