Paris Heritage Days 2013 , occurring on the 14th and 15th of September, is a cultural event allowing attendees to catch a glimpse of well known, but rarely seen historical monuments. Visit government buildings and private estates generally closed to the general public, while enjoying your stay with us at the Hotel Royal Cardinal , located in central Paris.
The Paris Heritage days 2013 origins and theme
In 1983 the Ministry of Culture held its first historical monument open day in Paris. Heritage Days was later established in 1991, being inspired by this initial event. Since then Heritage Days has thrived and is celebrated throughout France. Museums and theatres also participate during the weekend, displaying exhibitions and staging performances and concerts, most of which are free of charge. The festivities of the weekend bring the city and other regions of France to life. It's not to be missed and promises a thoroughly enjoyable event and memorable weekend.
This year the Paris Heritage Days is celebrating the 30th edition of the European Heritage Days and the anniversary of the Law of December the 31st 1913, a decree establishing the founding text protecting historical monuments throughout France. This double celebration has inspired the theme "1913-2013: 100 years of protection" for the Paris Heritage Days 2013.
The spectacular Palace Royal, which is home to the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Council of State, the French Comedie and the Constitutional Council, is among the thousands of monuments planned to feature in the weekend event. The palace, designed by the architect Jacques Lemercier in 1922, is highly impressive.
