Paris fun fair 2014 : Foire du Trône has something for everyone
Fairs have been held in Paris for hundreds of years, and Foire du Trône (literally "Fair of the Throne") is the direct descendant of a fair held to celebrate gingerbread. It's an occasion that finds Paris at its most playful and an event that is truly French to the very core. Foire du Trône is celebrating fifty years in its current incarnation, and it's now the most popular fair in France. The fair has come a long way from celebrating gingerbread, though you can buy just about every snack you can imagine as you walk around - and naturally some candyfloss too!
There are some 350 attractions in all, including roller coasters, dodgem cars and the Ferris wheel. There really is something for everyone, set over 25 acres on Pelouse de Reuilly, a vast lawn in the magnificent Bois de Vincennes. Open from midday to midnight, the fair takes on a different character during the long summer nights, with all the rides lit up and a superb view of Paris from the top of the Ferris wheel.
Will you join in the screams as you ride the dizzying 'King' roller coaster, with its twisting drops and a tunnel?
