The Caveau de la Huchette is a cool, bohemian style jazz club, located in the Latin Quarter. This establishment has been in operation since 1946 and has had many distinguished and celebrated jazz musicians grace its stage. Count Basie, Art Blakey and Lionel Hampton, have all played here and the club featured in the French movie, Les Tricheurs. This club has a great vibe, and is regarded as being a very important part of the French Jazz scene. The Latin Quarter, in Paris' trendy 5th district, is the perfect location, with its easy going, laid back feel and Sorbonne student presence.
An inspiring and notable hangout
The Caveau de la Huchette has inspired a number of clubs worldwide, including The Cavern Club, located in Liverpool. This venue was favoured by The Beatles, who played there on numerous occasions, before reaching mega pop star heights. The Caveau de la Huchette is located in a very interesting and unique building, built in the 16th century. The medieval labyrinth style cellar and the interior décor is elegant and very stylish.
Apparently the building was also used by the Rosicrucianism, secret societies and Freemasons, for meetings, which adds an air of mystique within this intriguing space. Visit the Caveau de la Huchette and sit back, relax and listen to live music, or take to the dance floor, while enjoying traditional jazz and swing.
