From Versailles to the Cartier Foundation, Paris wakes up to spring

Each year, the Musical Fountains Show, the Musical Gardens and the Night Fountains Show presented at the Château de Versailles fill the exceptional gardens of this world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site with spectacle, colour and melody. They should not be missed. While you’re enjoying your stay in Paris at the Hotel Royal Cardinal we also recommend that you check out Autophoto, an exhibition of photographs based around the automobile, currently on show at the Cartier Foundation.
The Musical Fountains Show of Versailles
From April 1st to October 29th, 2017, the Musical Fountains Show will return to the gardens of the Château de Versailles. For more than 300 years, this magnificent former royal palace has featured a show bringing together music and the play of water thrown aloft by the garden fountains. It presents the opportunity to discover, during a charming walk, the loveliness of the royal gardens and castle.
If you stroll further into the gardens, you can also attend the Musical Gardens, a melodious event taking place in the beautiful formal surroundings designed by André Le Nôtre. Baroque musical ensembles are installed in the gardens and play works dating back to the golden age of Versailles. Finally, don’t miss the Night Fountains Show, which takes place every Saturday evening during the summer, flooding the gardens and fountains in music and light. The climax of the show is an awe-inspiring fireworks display over the Grand Canal.
Tickets for the event can be booked on the Château de Versailles website. These provide access to the gardens and the events. You will also wish to explore inside this stunning building. Located in the south of Paris, the Chateau de Versailles is accessible by public transport on the RER C. It’s only a 10 minute walk to the Château from the train station. There is also a Versailles Express shuttle service to the castle from the Eiffel Tower. Or you can reach it by the road and leave your vehicle in the parking area.
The automobile in photos at the Cartier Foundation
Since 1984, the Cartier Foundation has been one of the most visited contemporary art centres in the city of Paris. It hosts all contemporary arts, including painting, sculpture, video, sound, design and photography. The building, located on the Boulevard Raspail, was designed by the famous architect Jean Nouvel.
From April 19th until October 2017, the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art welcomes Autophoto, an exhibition of photographs entirely devoted to the world of cars. From the beginnings of the automobile to the first races and to automated assembly lines, more than 100 years of history are traced through the exhibition.
An additional attraction is a montage paying tribute to the special place of the automobile in the movies. The cinema has always given a special place to automobiles, from chase scenes in James Bond blockbusters to the vehicles of the king of cool, James Dean, and this presentation is a reflection of that fascination.
