Delight your taste buds with original Yule logs in Paris
Published on 9 December 2015, dans Flavors and Gastonomy
The magic happens every year in Paris at this time. The capital loves this holiday season and the world-famous monuments and department stores are spectacularly illuminated and festive events such as nativity scenes in various churches and Christmas markets are offered in a friendly atmosphere. Christmas shopping in Paris provides the perfect opportunity to prepare for this foremost family occasion. For example, you can discover the delights of this year’s bûches de Noël (chocolate Yule logs), created by some of the finest pâtissiers in Paris, while enjoying the comfort and convenience of a stay at the Hotel Royal Cardinal.
Gontran Cherrier, an artist of flavours
Gontran Cherrier, the star baker, brings us his unique personal concept; his distinctive and innovative twist on the traditional Yule log. Here are two original ideas he has created for 2015 to satisfy all hardcore fans of fruit or chocolate. La Bûche Passion is an ode to the eponymous fruit, with a subtle blend of almond cream and passionfruit, exotic mousse and a compote of mango and apricot with fresh diced mango, all on a shortbread base. Alternatively, La Bûche Façon Profiteroles offers a celebration in chocolate. After just a glance, you’ll be unable to resist the chocolate fondant and vanilla and mascarpone profiteroles on a chocolate shortbread base, all topped with chocolate sauce.
Christmas cake 2015 by Christophe Michalak
This is actually a festive cake and not a traditional Christmas log that the genius pastry chef has concocted for Christmas 2015, but it’s so amazing that we’re certainly not going to quibble. Called Fantastik Mr Christmas, it’s thematically consistent with his usual creations, marrying fabulous flavours with finesse to provide pleasure for our palates, and is a far cry from the typical and often heavy chocolate cake served at the end of a gala dinner. No; this light and exquisite Mr Christmas is a round delight of 3 cm in height, dressed in red and decorated with a white marshmallow beard. The taste of milk chocolate is combined with a biscuit delicately flavoured with blackberry tea, and the crunch of cocoa beans and sea salt bring something truly unique to the taste party. This creation is a total success and your guests will rave about the subtle flavours of this delicious dessert.
The white Yule log created by Noura
A chocolate Yule log with the flavours of the Orient to bring an exotic touch to your Christmas table is offered by Noura, a leading Paris specialist in Lebanese cuisine. Indeed, this Yuletide treat is the very epitome of refinement, taste, elegance and the exotic. This frozen dessert is a vision adorned with pure white chocolate. Inside, subtle scents of dried fruit blend with rose and pistachio ice cream. This is a gourmet dessert that will certainly delight all gourmets. La Bûche Blanche can be enjoyed within the establishment, but if you wish you can also take one away with you!
