Carmen Danse – an exciting new production
Published on 27 September 2014, dans Entertainment
At the Royal Cardinal we like nothing more than a good tale of love, murder and intrigue so we were thrilled to discover that we could enjoy all this - and a spectacular night out! Why not join us, and plan a visit to coincide with what is sure to be one of the success stories of this coming autumn?
The tale of gypsy girl and good time girl, Carmen has been adapted very many times since it was published back in 1845 and an exciting new version entitled ‘Carmen Danse’ will be performed by the prestigious Siberian National Ballet in collaboration with the Siberian National Opera at the Palais de Congres from 24th October till 23rd November 2014.
Prosper Mérimée’s short story was considered shocking and scandalous and the rough Spanish terrain and fiery culture a far cry from the author’s genteel and sophisticated France.
A night of passion, romance and tragedy
The Siberian National Ballet is one of the world’s most amazing companies and their new production of Carmen Danse promises to be a sensational. Over 100 artists take to the stage as dancers and orchestra are enhanced by the unique voices of the opera National Opera of Siberia.
This is the first outing for the Siberian National Ballet in France, and their technical expertise and energy are perfect for this much loved work. Be swept away by the glorious music of Georges Bizet, and the passionate and romantic tale of Carmen and Don Jose. Opulent costumes and magnificent scenery will heighten your appreciation of Prosper Mérimée’s story as you’re transported to sunny Seville in a drama of incredible proportion.
There is always so much happening in Paris as autumn approaches and it’s one of our favourite times of year at the Royal Cardinal. To get us in the mood for Carmen Danse and a host of great dates in the city, we’re planning a visit to the Montmartre harvest festival. Come along and raise a glass with us from October 8th to 12th.
Fun and wine at Montmartre harvest festival
Celebrating the only vineyard in Paris, the annual Harvest Festival in Montmartre takes place this year from 8th to 12th October. This fun celebration of the district’s wine making history is a great day out, and a chance for you to enjoy parades, street entertainers, food and wine in a glorious setting.
