Bastille Brocante - A Paris tradition

Bastille Brocante - A Paris tradition

Bastille Brocante means ‘Bastille bargain’ and the Arsenal basin at Place de la Bastille is certainly the place to grab one this autumn. Following hot on the heels of the Grand Marché d'Art Contemporain the Bastille welcomes Antiques Brocante from 6th to 16th November 2014. It’s the perfect time to plan a stay at Hotel Royal Cardinal, and a great way to chase the winter blues away.

This excellent antiques fair was founded by Joel Garcia in 1969, and attracts antique dealers and visitors from all over France. Both its wonderful location overlooking the boats on the River Seine and the charm of its antique shops and stalls, which are laid out in neat little huts on both sides of the Arsenal basin, add to its delightful atmosphere. In a city that’s known for its markets and fairs, Bastille Brocante is one of the most exciting ‘flea markets’ of all.

Antique bargains and a great day out

The 2014 event promises to be more varied and exciting than ever before, and you’ll be able to browse stalls featuring items such as old glassware, ceramics, antique tableware, bric a brac and objet d’arts, old linen and fabrics, pottery, silverware, paintings and prints and furniture in a vibrant, friendly market that is a Parisian institute.

Haggle for a bargain or pick up unique treasures as Christmas gifts for family and friends. You’ll discover everything from toys from earlier times to antique jewellery and silverware, and part of the fun is finding odd and unusual items at bargain prices. Bastille Brocante is a great day out whether you’re an avid collector or simply enjoy the chance to discover something new. Hundreds of stalls and friendly dealers, plus an unrivalled location on the banks of the Seine have made Bastille Brocante a tradition that is loved by locals and visitors alike.
